Locating Adoption Records Database now Accessible to All - 17/1/22
CoramBAAF is pleased to announce that our Locating Adoption Records database is again fully accessible to adoption agencies, members of the public and researchers.
 
Norcap Contact Register now Held by Family Action - 26/6/20
Family Action has announced that all services previously delivered by Adoption Services for Adults, including the management of the Norcap Contact Register, transferred to Family Action on 3 April 2020.
 
New Website for Adopted and Care Experienced People Searching for Information about their Origins - 25/6/20
Family Action has launched Family Connect, a new website designed to help adopted people, and people who have been in care, learn about their legal rights around accessing their birth and care records.
 
Access to the Locating Adoption Records Database - 27/8/18
The Locating Adoption Records database is a unique resource that can be used to find out where adoption records might be held. CoramBAAF's member agencies have direct access to the database search while individuals who are searching for information for their own use can request that a database search is conducted on their behalf.
 
New Holder of the NORCAP Contact Register - 27/7/16
The NORCAP Contact Register has been transferred to Adoption Services for Adults, an Adoption Support Agency providing searching, tracing and intermediary services. Adoption Services for Adults is now able to verify whether an adopted person or birth relative had registered on the NORCAP Contact Register before NORCAP stopped trading on 14 January 2013.
 
New Regulations Extend Provision of Intermediary Services - 9/11/15

On 10th November 2015 new regulations come into force to extend the provision of intermediary services to facilitate contact between ‘persons with a prescribed relationship’ and the birth relatives of a person adopted before 30th December 2005.

 
Update - AAA-NORCAP Contact Register - 22/10/15
When AAA-NORCAP went into administration in Feb 2013, BAAF became Guardians of the electronic data held on the NORCAP Contact Register (NCR). Following the sudden closure of BAAF on 31st July 2015 the NCR is now in the hands of the Administrators (Smith and Williamson) who are now responsible for making a decision about the NCR’s future.
 
BAAF Services Move to Coram

We are delighted to announce that, as part of the newly formed CoramBAAF Adoption & Fostering Academy, the Adoption Search Reunion website will continue to support anyone searching for or making contact with birth and adopted relatives or researching an adoption that took place in the UK.

 
 
Disclosure of the Birth Name of an Adopted Person Under New Regulations - 22/12/14
On 31st October 2014 new regulations came into force to extend the provision of intermediary services to facilitate contact between ‘persons with a prescribed relationship’ and the birth relatives of a person adopted before 30th December 2005.
 
Welsh Adoption Information and Intermediary Services Guidance Amended - 18/12/14
The Welsh Government has removed the reference to 'non-identifying' information from the Adoption Information and Intermediary Services (Pre-Commencement Adoptions) (Wales) Regulations 2005 Guidance.
