Results of Tracing Birth Relatives Survey - 27/9/10
A survey recently conducted by BAAF has found that Almost 1 in 5 adopted people and birth families have waited 6 months or more for information about their birth relatives from professional adoption tracing agencies
The survey also showed that as a result of the long wait for information many attempt to search for birth relatives themselves using public records and online social networking sites such as Facebook. There are however concerns about the consequences of making contact with birth relatives without assistance from professional intermediary services who can offer advice and support and help make the initial contact in a sensitive manner.
